Welcome to AJJP Boston

Welcome to American Jews for a Just Peace-Boston, which is the Boston chapter of the AJJP national network.  AJJP is dedicated to furthering a just and peaceful resolution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, a resolution that will provide justice, safety, security and freedom for Jews, Palestinians, and all others living in the region.

AJJP-Boston is an independent Jewish voice which represents a variety of alternative perspectives on the conflict.  We embody a cross-section of the Jewish community, united by a commitment to Jewish values and a desire to see an end to the suffering on all sides.  We welcome the full and active participation of all people of good will who agree with our Common Ground statement.

Rather than advocate for a particular structure, whether it be two-state or a bi-national state, AJJP is committed to the principles of international law and human rights, and to the conviction that every state must be a state of and for all of its citizens.

We believe it is important to consider the various approaches and strategies advocated by those who share a desire for a just peace but may differ as to how to achieve it and indeed what 'peace' should mean.  Thus, in our educational events as well as on our website, we include information on a range of subjects, and try to present viewpoints not often heard from in the mainstream and official media.  We want to look at subjects that have been flash points between all sides in the conflict.  Understanding the narrative of the "other" is often the framework for developing new approaches to establishing a foundation for compromise.

Some of our current projects include:

The Health and Human Rights Project (HaHRP) - an annual trip to the West Bank and Israel by medical and other professionals and students.  Click here to get more information about the next delegation, scheduled for January 1-26, 2011.

Presentations at schools, churches, civic groups, universities and medical schools about conditions in the West Bank and Gaza.

Establishing a scholarship fund for Israel/Palestine work in honor of Hilda Silverman, a long-time member and original founder of this group.

Educational meetings for our members on topics on a wide range of issues.  Recent presentations include discussions about BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) and the Jewish National Fund.

Working in coalition on campaigns, lectures and lobbying efforts with other local, national and international groups who share our perspective.  Our particular focus at this time is on Boycott, Divestment and Sanction activities.  To learn more, click HERE for the BostonBDS website.
